IECEE

IECEE CB SCHEME

· CB SCHEME

IECEE is the IEC System of Conformity Assessment Schemes for Electrotechnical Equipment and Components, an organization of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The IEC uses the name IECEE for the IEC System for Conformity Testing and Certification of Electrotechnical Equipment and Components, better known as the CB System [1][2].

The predecessor of IECEE was a European body established under the name Commission Internationale de réglementation en vue de l'approvation de l'equipement électrique (International Commission for Approval Regulations for Electrical Equipment) [3], known as CEE. Historically, this certification process dates back to 1929, under the initiative of the German VDE (Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technology)

CEE also develops and publishes standards for electrical equipment, most of which have been superseded by IEC standards.

· CB Scheme

Based on harmonized international IEC and ISO standards, the IECEE scheme enables a one-stop approach for obtaining safety certifications with a single CB test report. The program helps to break down trade barriers with complicated global certification processes and requirements and allowing manufacturers to access existing and global markets.

The 'CB' in the IECEE CB Scheme refers to the multilateral agreement between the global Certification Bodies operated by the Scheme. The full name of the CB program is the IEC System of Conformity Assessment Schemes for Electrotechnical Equipment and Components (IECEE).
